Evaluation of anti-scorpion (<i>Hottentota tamulus</i>) venom potential of native plants extracts using mice model

Hottentota tamulus (Fabricius, 1798) (Scorpiones: Buthidae) is among the most common venomous species of scorpions in Punjab, Pakistan. The venom this has high risk morbidity and mortality. Several medicinal plants have been reported to anti-scorpion potential. However, there scarcity scientific evidences that could prove potential plant extracts. aim present study was evaluate anti-venom activity four native extracts, i.e. Mangifera indica L., Achyranthes aspera Allium cepa L. Ginkgo biloba using Swiss albino mice as model. Methanolic/aqueous extracts were mixed with LD99 Hottenota injected intraperitoneally. response recorded till 7th day treatment. Moreover, hematological serological analyses performed after administration LD50 doses venom. A. completely neutralized (100%) effect scorpion venom, but neutralization G. comparatively less (83.3%). M. (leaves flowers) did not neutralize analyzed by GC-MS for compositional analysis. major compounds found aspera, Oleanolic acid, cyclopropane, Lupeol acetate, a cholesterol, palmitic acid Stearic respectively. It concluded be used future design agent.
